Not So Ming...

Check out the stunnnnnning new tunic shift dress Oasis got in this morning. The rich print instantly reminded me of the Cavalli "Ming Vase" inspired dress Victoria Beckham wore to Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Party a few years ago. The Oasis version is definitely an easier style to wear (and breath in!), perfect with navy tights and a modest heel come January or a nude heel and clutch for a Spring/Summer party. Move over Vicky B, this dress has Kate Middleton written all over it.

Before the Panel

Thank God for Stella Mc Cartney and her innovative new way of hiding our excess Christmas pounds. Step forth the "Octavia" dress, so fabulous and slimming Kate Winslet got herself two. The darker coloured side panels give the illusion of a slimmer waist whilst the clever contouring under the chest area imply a perter bust. If you can't afford the $1545 price tag however, Oasis have provided us with a more affordable daytime option that looks perfect with black opaques and boots.

Just a Spoonful of Leather...

I am a leather obsessee and as my much loved black leather jacket got pilfered Sunday night I thought I'd lift my spirits by finally buying my lust-have leather sleeved tweed from Zara (See below). Leather detailing is huge right now, on panelled dresses, collars, sleeves, you name it. Here's my pick of just a few leather luxuries, both designer and high street.

Badass Balmain

Make like Balmain and take advantage of this season's most badass trends-leather, stud embellishment, metallics and distressed denim. Angled silhouettes and big shoulders are huge this year and layering works well for this look. For a day look, team a leather jacket with an animated tee, distressed denim shorts, ripped tights and chunky biker boots topped off with a beanie. For an evening look, a strong shouldered mini with bare legs and statement shoes iluustrates the season's baddest at it's best.

Flirty Shirty

Nothing says sexy like the classic white button down. Button it to the top for an on-trend geek chic look, go for a playful Peter Pan collar for a cutesie current variation or nab your boyfriend's oversized shirt and tuck it into a high waisted trouser for a classic androgynous edge.

Sequin Season

I for one hate the mandatory "Party Dresses" that line the high street each year come November, but catwalk-inspired sequins are particularly huge this year so I will make an exception for the tacktasic trend. However, sequins need not be reserved for once-off Christmas parties. Here are some sequin-inspired looks, proving the look can stretch further than your average "party dress".

Blazing Ahead

The blazer is probably my favourite wardrobe staple. Whether worn to smarten up an office look or give an edgy twist to a daytime look, the blazer -both practical and effortlessly chic- never goes out of style. If you're looking to invest, I suggest starting with muted colours. Every girl should at least own a black blazer. Shades of charcoal, navy and nude are easy to wear and can be subtley thrown on over print and brighter colours. The white blazer has been in season for the past two Spring/Summer runway shows and looks fantastic over a pale denim shirt and darker jeans or nude pastel spring colours. If intended for both office and evening wear, I suggest opting for a tailored blazer whilst the oversized boyfriend blazer is great for layered casual wear. Tweed and patterned blazers also make for great daywear but be sure to co-ordinate the rest of your outfit accordingly and make the blazer your statement piece.

Classically Classic

It is the nature of fashion to be ever-changing and although I so admire the brave fashion-forward trensetters, every so often I like to give credit to the ever-stylish ladies who don't feel the need to shock us in outrageous outfits and instead just do classic well.

Someday My Prince'll Come...

...In the form of a Jeffrey Campbell Lita boot in distressed black. I've spent the past month chasing hot leads from shops to websites to blogs to ebay in a desperate attempt to locate a pair for Santa Claus to pop in his sack this year, but to my dismay I'm officially giving up the search as of today. Until we meet again Lita...

Wrap it Up

It's officially freeeeezing outside, but instead of dreading leaving the house, invest in one of this season's most stylish coats so that you look forward to wrapping up. I've picked three very different on-trend styles for this season- The Wrap Coat; The Fitted Cape; and The Tweed Button-Down. And embracing my new role as Personal Stylist at Oasis, I've made it easy for you all by providing some lovely Oasis options for all three styles.

The Wrap Coat

Check out the Oasis version which comes in black, tan, cream, black/white, grey/white and royal blue. The timeless chic appeal of this coat means it will see you through many more winters to come and is versatile enough to finish a daytime chic/ nightime occasion look.

The Fitted Cape

This fitted cape below by Oasis is a little more practical than the loose one-size-fits-all cape of last season. It's belted silhouette makes for a more flattering shape and feels less wizardly than it's shapeless sister.

The Tweed Button-Down

Regular readers of this blog know that I'm a tweed-obsessee and since I'm having a bit of an androgynous fashion moment this season, this tweed button down from Oasis is on my lust-have list as I get set to embrace the snow. Teamed with black skinnies, lace-up booties and oversized sunglasses, it makes for the perfect Grandpa-chic overcoat.

The Knitted Short

Winter warmth meets summer style in the form of the Knitted Short this season. The short can be teamed with a cable knit on top but I think mixing textures and combining it with a cotton and jersey top under a shearling (as seen below) or leather jacket works best. Beware however that the thick wool provides potential for the knitted short to be less flattering than a standard tights/shorts combo so team it with a heeled or wedged bootie to give the illusion of a longer and thus slimmer leg.

Orange you glad...

Brighten up your winter wardrobe with an orange winter coat. Pick your shade carefully according to your skintone. Bright oranges are best worn with sallow skin tones but for paler tones check out this peach peacoat by Oasis. A burnt orange goes with most skin tones but if you find the colour harsh too close to your face, break it up with a fur snood or textured scarf, preferably in a grey or dark brown tone. The greatest part is that the colour happily transitions your look from winter to spring, an essential element for the cold Irish climate!

Into the Trenches

The invention of the Trench Coat is claimed by both Burberry and Aquascutum, with Thomas Burberry claiming to have submitted the design as an Army Officer's coat in 1901 and Aquascutum's claim dating back as far as 1850. Regardless of who was primarily responsible, the Trench has been a fashion staple ever since and even more so since Christopher Bailey became creative director of Burberry and brought the coat up to date with edgy embellishments like studs and leather sleeves. The Trench can be worn with little regulation, as demonstrated in the various looks below, but I think it works particularly well as part of a simple preppy day-look, over a classic button-down shirt with jeans and brogues.
