Z for Zebra

Last year was the year of the leopard, but 2012 is all about the the Zebra print.

Keep with the classic black/white print like this t-shirt dress option from Oasis (53 euro), best worn with black tights and a leather biker jacket for casual cool.

Alternatively, you can pick up on this season's on-trend colours, opting for a neutral nude/black take on the print. This mushroom/black zebra tank (Oasis, 22 euro) is fabulous teamed with your seasonal mushroom blazer and black skinnies. Whilst the mushroom blazer picks up on the colour in this shift dress (Oasis, 75 euro) and brings it to life for spring.

If full-on print isn't your thing, team a simple outfit with this Liverpool tote (56 euro) that gives a nod to the trend with just a flash of print.

Cannes I Have Everything??

The wheels are in motion for our annual girly trip to the Cannes Film Festival in May, one of the most glamorous events I've ever attended. Of course, being the OCD forward planner that I am, I'm already dreaming up potential outfits, seeking inspiration from the SS12 catwalks.

For occasionwear this Spring, I'm after an on-trend mix of a neutral/pastel palette, prints in both tribal and bold pattern (think Katrantzou) as well as indulging in my usual love of structured tailoring.

Here are just some of my lust-haves...

So St.Tropez (Emporio Armani SS12)

French Fancy (Louis Vuitton SS12)

Printed Perfection (Peter Pilotto SS12)

Eau de Fleur (Balmain SS12)

Mushroom Magic

The neutral blazer is one of the key wardrobe staples for Spring. Check out the beautiful soft drape mushroom blazer just in at Oasis. Dress the look up with a little black dress like Blake Lively (in navy) or Kate Winslet (in Helmut Lang blazer, below) or funk it down by layering it over a soft chiffon button down, skinny jeans and on-trend brogues.

Va-Va-Versace

Let's face it, Donatella Versace has never been known for playing it safe. But as much as I enjoyed Versace's Men's Fall 2012 collection, debuted in Milan this week, I can't help but wonder if anyone other than Grayson Perry would actually wear the psychedelic flower print creations. Saying this, Versace never was considered a mass-appeal brand until its recent collaboration with H&M and Donatella will always be one of my favorite designers based on artistic admiration rather than the wearability element of her designs.

Style.com's Tim Blanks got it spot on when he wrote of the FW12 collection 'If the unapologetic crassness of such items compelled a memory-blessed segment of the audience to hark back to Versace's glory days in the eighties, these clothes weren't actually echoes of that era so much as an antidote to any suggestion of playing safe in the face of economic constraints. She who dares wins. Donatella knows this.'

Flower Power

Check out these fab daisy print pants from Oasis, reminiscent of Christopher Kane's floral pant for Versace's SS11 Versus line. Dress them up with a silk button down and chic minimal accessories or give them a funky edge with a fitted biker jacket. Best worn with heels, these trousers are a perfect match for your black wedged booties.

Styling Spears

For a long time now I have said my dream client would be Britney Spears. Okay so she's bat crazy and probably a greater diva than Mariah and Whitney combined, but she would be a project the gals from Clueless would envy. My confusion regarding Ms Spears lies in the fact that she is one of the world's richest celebs, she has (or has potential to have) one of the greatest bodies in Tinseltown, has access to all of the biggest designers and attends some of the world's most glamorous events... So WHY does Britney not appear to have any form of a stylist and still ends up looking like this?! (Believe me, this post required serious editing, there were MANY bad pics to choose from)

Ms Spears, apparently in Prada?

There are no words.

The ill-fitting shirt and random horrific boots combo is becoming a pattern...

Pink Uggs, as ya do...

Good for Gucci

Gucci's FW12 menswear collection, debuted earlier today, showcased the perfect mix of sharp tailoring, distressed leather and crushed velvet that the metrosexual man's dreams are made of. Demonstrating what a 'collection' should be- consistent and contingent without being repetitive (Vivienne Westwood take note, see below)- Frida Giannini and her team really brought it at MFW this year and proved just why they pay 'em the big bucks. Here's my best picks of Gucci Menswear FW12...

And We're Off...

Milan Fashion Week is now in full swing with Fall/Winter menswear collections from Prada, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo and Missoni amongst others having already taken place. I LOVE menswear and often wish I had been born a boy, solely so that I could dress in head-to-toe D&G or Kooples for men (both MUCH cooler than their female lines). Whilst I'll have to settle for on-trend androgyny, keep reading over the coming week for my feedback as MFW unfolds...

Vivienne Westwood's collection (debuted yesterday) was disappointingly safe for the radical designer and showcased a relatively repetitive mix of tweed and plaid suits, finished off with a few simple but elegant tuxedos. I felt this look was the only one with the familiar Westwood quirkiness. The beards were odd and confusing as was the odd oompa loompa tans that looked more amateur panto than one of the most hotly anticipated Fashion showcases of the year.

In the Nude

The shoe world went wild for going nude last year and it's not ready to get dressed yet. Kate Middleton will certainly be happy to hear that her beloved Nude pumps are hot again this spring. The duchess practically lived in her L.K Bennett mid-height heel last summer, demonstrating the sheer versatility of the nude hue. For big budgets and even bigger pain thresholds, go for Christian Louboutin's classic peeptoe pump (Shown below in Banana 140 Patent- yes there's more than one shade of nude...) For gals who want to go the distance on the dancefloor however, Oasis do a more modest heel that gives the same patent peeptoe effect for half the pain and a tenth of the price.

Spring Sequins

Don't put away your party skirt just yet. The best way to sass up your sequins this Spring is by dressing them down for a casual cool look. Team your micro mini with a cable knit jumper, tights and chunky heeled boots for fresh look dosed in understated glamour. The juxtaposition of textures is key to this look to ensure it's kept casual and doesn't look too ab-fab or worse still, like a morning-after walk of shame.

To get the look, check out this amazing sequinned option from Oasis (It's in sale so grab it before it's gone!)

Betty had a bit of Bittar

I have 'misplaced' my beloved Alexis Bittar 'Miss Havisham' ring and searching the Bittar website has only reinstilled my love for the designer's pieces. A favorite amongst celebs from Rihanna to Gaga, the Brooklyn-based designer really knows how to do oversized costume jewellery well. Check out just a few of the stunning pieces from his collection.
