Monochrome Luxe

I've never been a fan of the Sports Luxe phenomenon and find the trend impractical and quite frankly, ugly. I can't see the logic behind a pair of runners with the added discomfort of a hidden heel or find the beauty in a perspex neon visor. Spring 2013's take on the Sports Luxe trend however, incorporates leather and monochrome stripes, giving the preppy look an edgier, biker feel. Marc Jacobs made the season's hottest print his own with vertical bold stripes on short, sharply tailored dresses. Alexander Wang did what Wang does best, adding exaggerated shoulder pads and sheer panels to his baseball-capped look, juxtaposing macho-masculinity and feminine sexuality.

To avoid appearing try-hard give a nod to the trend with a leather bomber jacket, black skinnies and a stiped top. The overall feel is edgy yet minimal so whilst jewellery should be chunky, don't kill the look by over-accessorising.
